What's Your Idea?
Got an idea for a review or article? Tell us about it!
Get Published on Youth Central!
If you’re between 16 and 25 and currently living in Victoria, then we want YOU to write for Youth Central! We’re after reviews, interviews and articles about the things that you’re interested in and the experiences you’ve had.
Contributing to Youth Central is as easy as contacting us with your idea, then writing about it. Anyone from Victoria between 16 and 25 can do it. If you're under 16, you can still get involved with us in a bunch of different ways.
There are three main ways you can get your stuff published on Youth Central.
1. Be a Guest Reporter!
If you’re new to writing for Youth Central - say, you’ve never done it before, or you’ve only had a few things published by us, then you can submit your ideas and stories as a Youth Central guest reporter.
If your work gets published you’ll receive a Prepaid Visa Debit Card as payment for every article, review, podcast or video we publish.
To find out more about submitting your work, check out our Guest Reporter page.
2. Join the Roving Reporter Team!
If you’ve been writing for Youth Central for a while and you’ve had at least two articles published, you can apply to become a roving reporter.
Roving reporters are paid at a higher per-article rate for their work, and will be allowed access to Youth Central’s media and industry contacts in order to help them to:
- Score preview tickets and media passes
- Track down interview subjects
- Cover events like policy launches, workshops, seminars and conferences
Youth Central's Content Editor will also regularly contact roving reporters with ideas and suggestions for articles.
As a Roving Reporter you'll have your own profile page on Youth Central to use as an online portfolio, and you'll receive detailed editorial feedback on each of your published articles so that you can continue to improve your writing abilities.

3. Join the Youth Central Blogger Team
If you’ve been working as a roving reporter and have had at least six articles published on Youth Central in that time, you can apply to become one of our official bloggers.
As a Youth Central blogger you will be paid to post fortnightly on the official Youth Central blog on whatever topics are of interest to you. You will also be assisted in your duties by Youth Central’s Content Editor, who will help out with article research, including tracking down interview subjects, scoring media preview passes and providing editorial feedback.

Other Ways to Participate
Submitting your work directly to us is only one way that you can get involved with Youth Central. If you're not inclined to be published, you can still participate in other ways, like:
- Commenting on or sharing posts from our Facebook
- Retweeting or replying to our tweets
- Sending us an email with suggestions on how to improve the site
- Submitting just an idea for an article (you don't have to write the article yourself - if you just want to suggest an idea, we can always get someone else to write about it)
- Entering one of our competitions
Finally, if you have any questions about getting published in Youth Central, or just about the site in general, you can always get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
