Meet the Roving Reporters

Rikki grew up in Echuca and has recently moved to the big smoke, calling Hawthorn her new home. Studying her second year in Professional Communication at RMIT, Rikki is majoring in cinema studies.

Though she once dreamed of being a dancer, Rikki's dreams were crushed as she grew too lanky. A natural film lover, entering the film industry was the obvious second option. Rikki feels that cinema is a wonderful way to express emotions. She hopes that her future career as a screenwriter will allow her to express herself in this way too.

As a fan of the use of emotion and connection with the surrounding landscape in Australian cinematography, Rikki's favourite film is naturally one that perfectly presents these typical characteristics: Somersault, with Abbie Cornish.

In the future Rikki dreams of writing her own great Australian screenplay, following the story of a refugee's journey from their own war-torn country to a better life in Australia. Rikki hopes this will make Australians more aware of many refugees' hardships.
