Young People Direct

Young People DirectYoung People Direct is a chance for you to have your say about the things that are important to you. The Victorian Government wants to make sure that the policies and programs they develop to help young Victorians are actually things that young people want.

Whether it's public transport or education, the environment or the economy, jobs or gender equality, or something else entirely that lights your fire and gets you passionate, YPD is a great way to make sure that the things that you care about are on the Government's agenda.

YPD aims to provide a number of different opportunities to present your views to the Victorian government through the Office for Youth. The YPD model includes online discussions, state-wide forums, regional consultations and a Ministerial Youth Advisory Committee.

So how can I get involved?

Some opportunities for you to get involved in Young People Direct include:

Coming along to a Statewide Youth Forum

Every year the Office for Youth hosts annual forums for young people all over Victoria to come together to inform the Victorian Government about issues that are important to them. Find out more on the Young People DIrect Forums page.

Join the Ministerial Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC)

The Ministerial Youth Advisory Committee has just been appointed for 2009 and will meet with the Minister fro Youth Affairs four times a year to advise him on policy issues from a youth perspective. The MYAC will also work on other projects throughout the year and have a key role in providing advice and consultation to various government departments.

Stay tuned!

Keep coming back to  youthcentral for information about any online consultations that may be happening on issues that you’re passionate about - these may be surveys you can fill in or comments you can make online or you may like to register to attend a consultation face to face.
