Youth Advisory Committee Program

Young People Direct Youth Advisory Committee ProjectThe Youth Advisory Committee Program aims to offer young people from all around Victoria, the opportunity to come together to share their work and experiences as well as to strengthen the government’s relationship with youth advisory bodies around the state.

How does it work?

If you work with, or are part of, a youth advisory committee that provides advice and feedback to your organisation, you can register to be part of the Youth Advisory Committee Program.

When you register for the YAC Program you are able to nominate issues that you would like to be consulted on. When these issues are raised within government your youth advisory body will be contacted by the Office for Youth and asked whether you would like to contribute your views either via an online consultation, focus group discussion or forum.

What’s in it for my Youth Advisory Group?

The Victorian Government recognises the importance of youth advisory groups networking to share their skills and experiences. An important aspect of the YAC program is to create opportunities for this to happen and to support youth advisory groups to develop in their work. Some benefits for youth advisory groups in joining the YAC program include:

Greater access to other youth advisory groups and the opportunity to learn from each other and build networks and partnerships

  • Access to resources and opportunities to build on the work that you are already doing
  • Access to support in developing a youth advisory group or strengthening the structure of the one that you already have
  • More opportunities to promote your work and to work with other young people to achieve your goals

How can I get involved?

Getting involved in the YAC Program is simple. All you have to do is register your youth advisory group using the online registration form (new window). Just fill in the answers to a few questions about your youth advisory body. Once you’ve registered, your group will be on the YAC database and you’ll be sent some resources and information on upcoming opportunities.
