Youth Affairs Council of Victoria

The Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic) (new window) is the peak body and leading policy advocate on young people's issues in Victoria. It is an independent, non-government organisation.

Its vision is for a Victorian community that values and provides opportunity, participation, justice and equity for all young people.

One of YACVic's main objectives is to develop a framework which integrates youth issues into social policy processes and to ensure that you can participate meaningfully in this process.

This means making sure that your issues are heard by governments and the wider community.

To do this, YACVic researches issues that are relevant to young people in Victoria and then raises these issues in its submissions and discussion papers.

Often the government releases discussion papers to consult the community about a variety of issues. In responding to these papers, YACVic consults with its members to ensure submissions reflect the concerns of young people and those working with young people.

YACVic members are encouraged to become involved in this policy process. Members will be invited to participate in consultations organised by YACVic. Members can also be appointed to the Policy Advisory Group (new window) or to the Youth Reference Group (new window), which provides policy advice to the Board.
