What is the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge?

The Rock Eisteddfod Challenge (REC) is a national competition that invites schools to enter a team of performers and plan an eight-minute musical performance based on a theme of their choice.

Students, teachers and entire communities work together to plan and rehearse before competing against other schools at events in a 100% drug-and-alcohol-free environment.

REC is an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents through dance and music-based commentary on their lives and issues that are important to them.

In 2011, the 31st year of REC, Victorian participants will join 300 Australian secondary schools and 25,000 students to compete across Australia.

How can I get involved?

Past teams competing in the REC have been as small as 20 or as large as 142.

If you're interested in your school participating, you'll need to find a teacher who is able to help you plan your performance and get them to head to the REC website so they can fill out an expression of interest form (new window).

Then all you need to do is plan your performance! For advice about getting things going, the REC website also has a range of production tips (new window)
