The Victorian Government is helping Scouts Victoria and Girl Guides Victoria by providing:

  • $4 million for the Scouts and Guides Facilities Grants Program
  • $400,000 to encourage greater participation in Scouting and Guiding by multicultural communities
  • $160,000 towards volunteer training and skills development
  • $440,000 to upgrade the Gilwell Park Scout camp site

About Girl Guides Victoria

The Victorian Coalition Government  has announced funding totaling $817,000 to Girl Guide groups across Victoria to upgrade hall and camp facilities.

Funding includes:

  • $54,500 for Ainslie Park Guide Hall in Croydon to combine the existing halls to create a better facility to support girls with disabilities
  • $250,000 for Britannia Park in Yarra Junction to develop a 10-year masterplan for this site
  • $100,000 for Donvale - Nunawading Guide Hall in Nunawading for electrical works, heating and cooling, toilet and kitchen, roof repairs, improved storage, carpeting and to address storm water issues
  • $250,000 for Iluka in Shoreham to develop a 10 -year masterplan for this site
  • $100,000 for Springvale South Guide Hall in Springvale for discussions to propose a hall rebuild to support the local community and to assist Girl Guides to expand into multicultural communities
  • $36,500 for Wangaratta Guide Hall in Wangarratta for works including electrical repairs, removal of asbestos, repairs to flooring and installation of air conditioning
  • $26,660 for Werribee Guide Hall in Werribee for restumping, kitchen and flooring repairs, bathroom and toilet refurbishment

The Girl Guides mission statement is "to enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members".

Guides are aged between five and 18 and come from all parts of the Victorian community. As guides they experience challenges, fun and friendship in a supportive, safe environment.

Guides provides girls and young women with the opportunity to

  • Meet personal challenges
  • Learn team building and leadership skills
  • Make new friends
