Scouts and Guides to benefit from $1.4m in funding
The Victorian Government is supporting Scouts and Girl Guides across Victoria through its Scouts and Guides Facilities Grants Program.
The program is providing $4 million to fund the upgrade of Scouts and Guides facilities. By improving the safety, functionality and accessibility of facilities, young people are better able to enjoy scout and guide activities.
On 12 April 2013, the Minister for Youth Affairs, the Hon Ryan Smith MP announced the recipients of $1.4 million of funding under Round 2 of the program. Twenty-three scout groups and thirteen guide groups will share in this funding. This adds to the 60 groups that received funding under Round 1.
Some of the projects being funded under Round 2 include:
- $50,000 to Croydon Hills Scout Hall an extension to the existing hall, the addition of storage facilities and new fencing.
- $83,000 to Maryborough Guide Hall in the Central Goldfields for refurbishment of the floors, toilets doors and external walls.
- $50,000 to Bentleigh Scout Hall for the removal of asbestos, and repairs to the kitchen, toilets, windows and roof.
- $19,500 to Warrnambool Guide Hall for roof repairs.
