Sample Resumes and Cover Letters

Writing a resume can be tricky. So can writing a cover letter. Well, fret not because we have a bunch of cover letter examples and resume examples that you can use as a starting point to get you on the way to writing a succesful job application.

Whether you've finished school early or you've gone all the way to the end of tertiary study, one of these sample resume or cover letter templates should be suited to your needs so that you can get your job applications started.

Choose a sample resume that best suits your current situation:

Early School Leaver with No (Paid) Work Experience

Use this template as a starting point if you've left school before completing Year 12, but have little, or no, formal work experience.

Early School Leaver with Work Experience

Use this template as a starting point if you've left school before completing Year 12 and you also have some formal work experience (e.g. full-time, part-time or casual work).

VCE Graduate with No (Paid) Work Experience

Use this template as a starting point if you've completed Year 12 (or equivalent), but have little, or no, formal (paid) work experience.

VCE Graduate with Work Experience

Use this template as a starting point if you've completed Year 12 (or equivalent) and you also have some formal work experience (e.g., full-time, part-time or casual work).

Tertiary Graduate with No (Paid) Work Experience

Use this template if you have a tertiary (or equivalent) qualification (or are in the process of getting one), but you have little, or no, formal work experience.

Tertiary Graduate with Work Experience

Use this template if you have a tertiary (or equivalent) qualification (or are in the process of getting one) and you also have some formal work experience (e.g., full-time, part-time or casual work).

Use this cover letter template if you're applying for a job that has been advertised and you have some formal (paid) work experience. 

Applying for an advertised position if you have no work experience

Use this cover letter template if you're applying for a job that has been advertised and you have no formal (paid) work experience.

Applying for a job when only a cover letter is required

Use this cover letter template if  you're applying for a job that has been advertised and you've been asked to respond to the application using only a cover letter.

Writing to a company to ask about positions that are available

Use this cover letter template if you're looking for work at a particular company or business, but there are no currently advertised vacancies at that company or business.
