NYW Body Image Forum
As part of National Youth Week 2009 celebrations, young people from Alpine, Indigo Shire and Towong Shires and the Rural City of Wangaratta met to discuss body image, self esteem and digital manipulation of images.
The forum was held at Tangambalanga and attracted 99 young people, with Tina Nickolovski providing facilitation.
The discussions highlighted:
- That participants were aware that magazine images of celebrities and models are digitally manipulated
- That it's OK to be yourself
- That we need to make an effort not to judge people on appearances
- That we all have something to offer regardless of how we look
This project was funded by the Office for Youth as part of National Youth Week 2009.
