Digital storytelling is the process of sharing personal stories through the use of digital expression together with digital media like photos, artwork, animations, sound and music.
What's digital expression?
Digital expression is the act of sharing your thoughts, opinions and emotions with a worldwide audience using digital media to get these thoughts, opinions and emotions out there. It's a way to explore your identity (and maybe even make up a new one!).
Digital expression gives you:
- The opportunity to share yourself with the world
- A platform on which to express yourself
- A voice that you can feel comfortable using
So what’s digital media?
For all you web junkies out there, digital media is what you engage with every time you surf the web. Everything from the videos you browse through on YouTube to the photos you put on your MySpace. It’s all digital!
What can digital stories be about?
A digital story could be a story about:
- Your most memorable moment
- Your motivation or inspiration
- Something that you've overcome in your life
- An illness or an adventure
- Your hero or heroes
- Something that represents you as a person.
