Grampians Bushfires - By Shawnee

Title:

Grampians Bushfires

Story By:

Shawnee

Description:

In 2006 two horrific blazes tore through the Grampians National Park, devastating the community and environment in its path.

Towns were evacuated and members of the community, like Shawnee, wondered when the perpetual sunset sky would disappear.

Shawnee discusses the debilitating impact bushfires have on a community and the way they destroy the environment, community, families and homes.

While the negative repercussions of the bushfires have left a profound impact on Shawnee's life, she nevertheless mentions the healing, regrowth and rejuvenation of both the environment and society.
