Breaking Dawn

Stephanie Meyer
(Little, Brown Books Group)

Breaking DawnWell as much as we hate to believe it, the Twilight saga comes to an end with the final addition, Breaking Dawn.

As the final instalment of the saga, Breaking Dawn answers all the lingering questions and links all the straying emotions Stephanie Meyer used to create the suspense in the preceding three novels.

In Breaking Dawn we see the development of Edward and Bella's relationship from their first teenage love to "as long as we both shall live", but the romance isn't all that makes this book impossible to put down.

Bella and Edward are hit with the news of a coming addition to the Cullen family: the child of Edward and Bella. They quickly have to decide what to do: lose this new member and live forever in remorse or protect their new family and risk it all.

The choice is complicated enough considering Bella's life is in danger as she protects the new child. The werewolf tribe is planning to advance on the Cullens and Edward and Bella take two very different stances.

Once the choice is made, Jacob saves the day merely by meeting Edward and Bella’s child, but the situation becomes even more problematic when the law-enforcers of the immortal world, the Volturi, become involved.

Even though Breaking Dawn is the final novel in the series, Meyer introduces a whole host of new characters and delves deeper into the life of vampires using her descriptive and emotive writing style to break through the barriers of even the most critical of her readers

The only downfall to Breaking Dawn is that you can't put it down.

Yes, the saga may be drawing to a close, but Breaking Dawn continues to shock the reader with an intricately woven web of suspense, temptation, loss and love that encapsulates every emotion and every desire that the entire series has been based upon to perfection.
