Webcomic reviews: Part 3

Feeling bored? Have nothing to do? Or even if you do have something to do, would you rather have something more entertaining to procrastinate with? Well I'm back with another small selection of entertaining webcomics to spend a bit of time with!

Cat Ghost Comics

This particular comic comes from the creator of Doctor Cat, a comic I reviewed in one of my previous instalments. This series is instead about the author, a girl named Sarah, and her day-to-day life. Even if that might be a little exaggerated.

Something you'll notice right away is her obsession with cats and a lot of geeky things. This comes across in a hilarious way through her quirky art style and great sense of humour which appeals to just about everyone. Her comics are always totally adorable. She writes about her life or her own silly little take on something like Pokemon in a way that can always put a smile on your face.

Due to her commitment to Doctor Cat, this comic doesn't update a lot and only really gets something added when she has the time, which in some cases might only be once a month. The cute art style and awesome sense of humour really makes it worth the wait for what's always a cute, quality comic, though. Definitely something to go and check out if you have some spare time.

Cyanide and Happiness

An internet long-runner that you might have seen around a few times, Cyanide and Happiness got its start back in 2004 and is currently written by Kris, Rob, Matt and Dave. The comic is a series of one-shot ideas, all of which are pretty dark and not for the faint of heart.

If you can get past the initial shock factor of the subject matter and are looking for something dark, but still absolutely hilarious, Cyanide and Happiness might be just what you need. There aren't really any characters, just a few strange blob/stick people living their day to day lives which are, in a lot of cases, pretty extraordinary.

The great thing about this comic, though, is how it always manages to surprise you with the punchline. It never takes the obvious way out and instead goes for some pretty creative and morbid jokes that, in some cases, you might even feel a little bit guilty for laughing at.

If dark humour is your thing or you're just looking for something totally different and out there, then give this a shot. You won't be disappointed. Some comics do cross a bit of a line, though, and it's really not for everyone. It is updated daily, though!

Dinosaur Comics

Who doesn't love dinosaurs? No one. That's who. This comic follows the life and thoughts of a Tyrannosaurus, appropriately named T-Rex, and his friends Utahraptor and Dromiceiomimus. Despite all being dinosaurs, they have some pretty interesting, and always hilarious, conversations.

The art in the comic always consists of the same panels, but the art isn't really what this comic is about. It's more about the amazing writing, taking an idea and running with it, creating a dialogue between the characters and making the audience laugh. And that is something it does incredibly well. It covers a wide variety of topics, from everyday issues and ideas to some pretty ridiculous concepts. But then again, when your main characters are all talking dinosaurs, every concept is pretty ridiculous.

With daily updates that are always pretty high quality and worth a good laugh, this is something to keep your eye on. It only takes a couple of issues to realise you're reading something pretty unique, and it takes the same amount of time to get totally hooked on this zany idea.
