Meet the Roving Reporters

Jing Wei grew up in an apartment in suburban Singapore (she has never lived in a proper house!), but lots of family holidays during her childhood quickly developed her taste for travel. When she finished school she decided to spread her wings and headed for Melbourne, where she is currently studying journalism at Monash University.

Initially unsure of whether she was cut out for a career in the media, it wasn't until after her second year of study that Jing Wei discovered her love of video and broadcast journalism. Now she aspires to score a job with Al Jazeera.

Jing Wei's name is Chinese, meaning "tall strong grass", a name her mum bestowed on her in the hope that she would grow up to be equally resilient and strong.

When she isn't pursuing her journalistic dreams Jing Wei loves spending time with friends, checking out new bars and restaurants and indulging her obsession with Angry Birds (a love that has resulted in her being the proud owner of an impressive Angry Birds plushy collection!). She also quite likes Justin Bieber's music and bemoans the Beiber-bashing fad that has swept across the globe.
