Youth Summit: Your ideas, Victoria's future

On Friday 31 March 2017 hundreds of young Victorians, like Olly Tripodi, took their ideas for the future to the Victorian Government’s first Youth Summit.

At the Summit they discussed key issues impacting young people, including mental health and housing, and helped to shape future government decisions.

Representatives were drawn from across Victoria, including young people from local government advisory groups, as well as advisory groups that work with youth sector organisations and partners.

Other flagship projects

Other Youth Policy flagship projects include:

  • Victorian Youth Congress - The Victorian Youth Congress will be an advisory group made up of young people between the ages of 12 and 24.

  • Annual survey of young people in Victoria - In consultation with young people, an annual youth survey will be developed and conducted to understand trends, priority issues and action areas that are important to young people in Victoria.

  • Social Policy design labs - Social policy design labs will be conducted in partnership with youth sector representatives and young people from a range of backgrounds who come together to discuss key youth-focused issues and challenges.

  • Youth Barometer - The Youth Barometer will provide qualitative data on issues that are important to young people who may not engage in the annual youth survey. Selected non-government organisations will be supported to undertake in-depth consultation with young people who may be more difficult to reach.
