National Youth Week 2015

National Youth WeekNational Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of young people (aged 12–25) throughout Australia.

It is a joint initiative of the Australian, State, Territory and Local Governments. It gives you an opportunity to express your ideas and views, and act on issues that affect your lives. It also lets you have a lot of fun.

Each year, all over Australia, events are planned and organised to celebrate and recognise the contribution of young people. In 2014 more than 26,000 young people from across Victoria participated in National Youth Week activities.

National Youth Week 2015 will be held from 10 April to 19 April 2015, incorporating the theme ‘It Starts With Us’.

NYW 2015 – What’s On

92 organisations receiving a National Youth Week 2015 grant will stage more than 100 events for young people across Victoria, ranging from film festivals, music performances and art exhibitions.

Live Up - National Youth Week Opening Event

The Live Up website is a free online tool featuring a series of fun and informative videos exploring the life skills young adults will need when moving out of home for the first time. Videos range from cooking simple meals (Cook Up) and home cleanliness (Clean Up) to employment and job interview skills (Skill Up).

As well as the official launch and preview of the site, the event will include fun interactive food stations, live music performances and roving entertainers.

Victorian National Youth Week 2015 Young Member!

22-year-old Michael Casha will be the National Youth Week Victorian Young Member for 2015.

Each year, a young person is appointed to act as the spokesperson for their respective state or territory and contribute to the planning and promotion of National Youth Week events.

Michael said he felt privileged to represent young people in Victoria in preparation for National Youth Week next year.

"I really enjoyed travelling to Canberra as the Victorian representative on the National Planning Group and catching up with other like-minded young people from other states and territories across Australia.  The Young Member role will not only support the activities occurring in National Youth Week but provide an opportunity to show Australia the positive power young people truly have!" he said.
