National Youth Week 2016
National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of young people (aged 12–25) throughout Australia.
It is a joint initiative of the Australian, State, Territory and Local Governments. It gives you an opportunity to express your ideas and views, and act on issues that affect your lives. It also lets you have a lot of fun.
Each year, all over Australia, events are planned and organised to celebrate and recognise the contribution of young people. In 2015 more than 20,000 young people from across Victoria participated in National Youth Week activities.
National Youth Week 2016 will be held from 8 April to 17 April 2016.
Grant Applications Now Open
Young people looking to organise events for National Youth Week 2016 can now apply for grants to help kick start their plans, Minister for Youth Affairs Jenny Mikakos has announced.
Every day, young people from all cultures and backgrounds are making a huge contribution to life in Victoria.
Through their creativity, energy, skills and hard work, young people are addressing some of the toughest problems facing our world. They are championing equality and social inclusion, they are sharing their views and concerns for the future, they are advocating for change and they are working hard to improve our communities.
National Youth Week is a great way to recognise the achievements of young people and to celebrate their contribution to communities across Victoria.
In partnership with the Australian Government, the Victorian Government is providing National Youth Week grants of up to $2,000 to fund events that celebrate and recognise the contribution of young Victorians to their community.
National Youth Week 2016 grants are available to assist groups of young people to organise events for other young people. To be eligible, young people must be working in partnership with a local council, community organisation or school.
