Koorie Youth Council | Youth Central

Established in 2003, the Koorie Youth Council advocates to government and community to advance the rights and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

Led by an Executive of 15 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and statewide members, the Koori Youth Council values the diversity and strength of young people as decision makers.

Council members gain new skills to develop ideas into real projects that can influence Aboriginal youth and the broader Aboriginal community in Victoria.

By hosting events like the annual Koorie Youth Summit, the Council brings Aboriginal young people together to amplify their voices for social change.

The Council also travels out to regional communities to facilitate smaller regional summits called 'Blackouts'.

The Koorie Youth Council is supported by Aboriginal Victoria.
