Future Ready is a fun and exciting way to get involved in your local community, develop your leadership skills and have some fun.
You may be able to get involved in Future Ready if:
- you're in year 7 to 12 at a Victorian government secondary school, and
- your school is participating in the program.
Future Ready 2027-28
Applications for the Future Ready 2027-28 program are now open.
Applications are open to:
- Victorian government secondary schools
- not-for-profit groups or social enterprises working in partnership with Victorian government secondary schools.
Future Ready offers two-year grants of between $24,000 and $168,000. Funded activities will run from term 1, 2027 to term 4, 2028.

What is Future Ready?
Future Ready projects are designed to help you, as a secondary school student, achieve your goals, participate in your community and gain practical skills for higher education or employment.
Among other activities, they can involve:
- mentoring and support
- recognised training, volunteering or work-placements
- leadership opportunities
- hands on learning and development opportunities
- inclusive and creative learning opportunities.
What sort of Future Ready activities will I do?
There's a whole range of activities you can do to build confidence, skills and community connections:
- participate in a conservation program
- get involved with the emergency services
- complete a recognised training course
- help plan and lead an event
- run a community radio program.
