Scouts and Guides | Youth Central

Scouts Victoria and Girl Guides Victoria have each been allocated $1 million over four years, commencing January 2018 from the Victorian Government.

Scouts Victoria and Girl Guides Victoria are developing school-based programs to increase participation by young people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Scout and Guide groups in regional Victoria are receiving targeted support and expert advice to develop engagement strategies and programs that enables greater participation by young people from rural communities.

Scouts and Guides groups will also develop strategies and programs to support young people from socio-economically disadvantage backgrounds.

They will both deliver training for future leaders, existing leaders and volunteers to strengthen the delivery of scouting and guiding programs for young people across Victoria.

Scouts Victoria will also broaden its network, with 12 new groups to be set up each year with leaders appointed across growth corridors resulting in a further 200 young people participating.

In addition Girl Guides Victoria will support 120 leaders to complete a range of workshops to develop skills to run camping and outdoor programs. This will result in 260 girls per year taking part in orienteering, canoeing, hiking, overnight camps and much more.
